Unlike traditonal Plano-convex or Plano-concave lenses, the meniscus lens features one convex and one concave surface, creating a shape that can either converge or diverge light depending on it's curvature. this makes it an essential component in various optical systems where precise control over light paths is required.   A positive meniscus lens has two spherical surfaces, it's a convex-concave lens and is thicker at the center than at the edges.
