As a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel, 904L's outstanding corrosion resistance stems from its unique composition combination - 20% chromium, 25% nickel, 4.5% molybdenum and copper elements work together to form a powerful anti-corrosion barrier. 20% chromium can rapidly form a dense and stable Cr₂O₃ oxide film on the material surface, effectively blocking the erosion of acidic media. 25% nickel significantly enhances the stability of austenite structure, strengthens the toughness of the material within the applicable temperature range of -50 ℃ to 400℃, and avoids low-temperature brittleness and high-temperature deformation. 4.5% molybdenum further enhances the resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Especially in environments containing chloride ions, it can reduce the corrosion rate to less than 1/5 of that of ordinary stainless steel.
