A dispersion of light by prism is an optical prism that is used to disperse light, separate light into it's spectral components( the colors of the rainbow), different wavelengths colors of light will be deflected by the prism at different angles. When white light is passed through a glass prism it spilit into its spectrum of colors( blue, violet,yellow, green, orange and red) and this process of white light splitting into it's consituent colors is termed as dispersion Triangular Prisms are the most common type of dispersive prism.
